Buick’s New Commercial Starring Cam Newton and Miranda Kerr to Run During Super Bowl 51
The rumors that NFL player Cam Newton and supermodel Miranda Kerr would be starring in this year’s Super Bowl commercial for Buick turned out to be true.
Buick published its new commercial, titled “Pee Wee,” on its YouTube channel on Jan. 31st. The ad revolves around a youth football game in which two fathers chat about the performance of their kids. After one of the children takes a rough hit, his father cheers him on from the stands until a new Buick Cascada convertible pulls into the parking lot, stealing his attention away from the game.

This is when one of the men point out the eye-catching red Buick, to which his friend replies, “If that’s a Buick then my kid’s Cam Newton.”
Through the magic of television, the young quarterback then morphs into NFL MVP Cam Newton, throwing an incredible touchdown pass that astonishes the crowd. Newton then heads over to the sideline to speak to his coach, but he too spots the new Cascada and makes a remark about how good it looks. The coach then states, “If that’s a Buick, then I’m a supermodel.” As you might have guessed at this point, the coach then transforms into Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr.
“Every time I take the field, I aim to shatter traditional expectations of the quarterback position,” said Newton. “Buick’s doing the same thing with this ad, and I think everyone watching will love it. It was so fun going back to the Pee Wee field with such great kids.”
Newton’s new Buick commercial is set to air during the first quarter of Super Bowl 51. The goal of the ad is to change the expectations that consumers have for Buick vehicles.
“Buick is experiencing unprecedented sales success and consumer awareness backed by remarkable third-party quality and reliability validation,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick Sales, Service and Marketing. “Our latest vehicles like the Encore and Cascada belong in the spotlight on a global stage only the Super Bowl can offer.”
