Presented at the New York Auto Show, the new Seltos builds on a version already shown in other global markets, now detailed specifically for North America. The model introduces changes in design, dimensions, and interior features while maintaining its position in the affordable compact SUV segment.
The 2027 Seltos expands its appeal with multiple powertrain options, updated technology, and revised proportions aimed at improving passenger space and practicality.
Three Powertrain Options, Including a New Hybrid Variant
Kia will offer the 2027 Seltos with three distinct powertrain choices, covering both conventional and electrified options. The base engine is a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 147 horsepower, paired with a continuously variable transmission. This configuration comes standard on LX, S, EX, and X-Line trims, with front-wheel drive as standard and all-wheel drive available.

A more powerful alternative is the turbocharged 1.6-liter engine delivering 190 horsepower. This version is reserved for the X-Line trim and comes standard with all-wheel drive.
The lineup also introduces a hybrid configuration combining a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard for the hybrid, while an electric all-wheel-drive system offering additional power will also be available. According to Motor1, detailed specifications for the hybrid variant will be released later this year.

Larger Dimensions and Design Inspired by Kia’s SUV Lineup
The redesigned Seltos adopts styling cues from the Telluride, with a more upright and rugged appearance. It also grows in size, gaining an additional 2.4 inches in wheelbase and offering up to 8.1 inches of ground clearance.
Wheel options vary depending on configuration. Sixteen-inch wheels are standard, while 18-inch wheels are available on the 2.0-liter X-Line. Higher-end variants, including the turbocharged X-Line and hybrid e-AWD models, offer black 19-inch wheels. The X-Line trim further distinguishes itself with unique bumpers, black side sills, and dark gunmetal accents.

Inside, the design draws from both the EV9 and Telluride, featuring a stalk-mounted shifter, a squared steering wheel, and push-button start. The longer wheelbase translates into an additional inch of rear legroom, alongside increases in headroom, hip room, and shoulder room across the cabin.

Updated Interior Technology and Upcoming Market Launch
The 2027 Seltos integrates updated in-car technology, including a 12.3-inch infotainment display and a 5.0-inch climate control panel, with an available 12.3-inch digital driver display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the range.
Cargo capacity reaches up to 64.1 cubic feet with the rear seats folded and 27.8 cubic feet behind the second row. The model will go on sale in the United States within three months of its debut, while the hybrid version is scheduled to arrive later in the year.
Pricing details, full trim breakdowns, and fuel economy figures have not yet been announced. The current 2026 Seltos starts at $25,285, including destination charges, and the new model is expected to carry a modest increase.
