The planned additions span multiple segments and powertrain types, reflecting Hyundai’s broad product strategy. Some of the vehicles are entirely new, while others are updated versions of existing models already familiar to consumers.

Hyundai’s recent sales performance has helped position the company for further expansion of its portfolio. The brand intends to roll out a mix of sedan and crossover offerings with gasoline, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, electric, and extended-range electric configurations.

Elantra and Ioniq 3 Headline the Compact Car Updates

Among the vehicles expected to receive updates is the Hyundai Elantra. The compact sedan is due for a refresh that will include styling revisions at the front and rear, along with an updated interior layout.

Motor1 reports that the standard Elantra’s powertrain lineup is expected to remain unchanged. The publication also notes that a potential new engine for the Elantra N could be introduced, although no further details were provided.

Another notable addition is the Hyundai Ioniq 3, described as a compact electric hatchback capable of delivering more than 300 miles of range. The vehicle is positioned as an entry-level electric option with “decent power.”

The Ioniq 3 is not currently planned for the U.S. market. The publication highlights its combination of range and affordability potential, particularly in regions with sufficient charging infrastructure.

Kona and Tucson Set for Major Evolution

The Hyundai Kona is also expected to undergo significant changes. Hyundai paused production of the Kona EV for 2026 after remaining 2025 inventory stayed higher than anticipated.

Hyundai is targeting a fully updated Kona for the 2027 model year. The redesign is expected to give the subcompact crossover a tougher appearance consistent with broader styling changes across the company’s crossover, SUV, and truck lineup.

The next-generation Kona is expected to offer either a turbocharged 1.6-liter hybrid powertrain or an updated electric version. Both variants are slated to receive Hyundai’s latest cabin technology and design influences inspired by the company’s Crater concept.

The Tucson is also in line for an overhaul. Hyundai’s compact SUV, which has been part of the brand’s lineup for two decades, is expected to adopt a boxier exterior design while retaining signature lighting elements associated with Hyundai’s current styling language.

Hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions are expected to continue. The outlet also mentions discussion of a possible Tucson N performance model featuring a 295-horsepower hybrid powertrain and all-wheel drive. At the same time, the publication says the next-generation Tucson could eliminate its combustion-only variant.

Santa Fe Gains an Extended-Range Electric Option

One of the most significant powertrain developments involves the Hyundai Santa Fe. Hyundai has invested heavily in its Georgia Metaplant, and the company’s long-discussed extended-range electric vehicle technology appears set to reach production.

The 2027 Santa Fe is likely to receive an EREV powertrain option. In this configuration, the vehicle operates with electric motors and a battery pack and can be charged conventionally. It also includes an onboard combustion engine that functions as a generator for the battery.

The system allows the vehicle to continue operating after refueling, even when battery charge is depleted. An EREV-equipped Santa Fe should provide a driving range of approximately 560 miles.

Beyond these models, Hyundai is also working on an SUV and a pickup truck derived from the Boulder concept platform. The publication notes that these vehicles are not expected as 2027 model-year products. In the meantime, Hyundai’s upcoming lineup combines updated sedans, crossovers, and multiple powertrain options as the company expands an already broad vehicle portfolio.
