Chevrolet is refreshing one of America’s most important full-size pickups after eight years without an all-new Silverado. The model arrives in a segment where loyalty runs deep and where rivals such as the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 remain central references.

The new Silverado keeps the broad flexibility expected from a half-ton truck, including multiple trims, cab layouts, and bed lengths. The update focuses on design, technology, ride comfort, and off-road capability, without abandoning familiar Silverado elements.

A Redesigned Truck With Seven Trims And Familiar Configurations

The 2027 Silverado 1500 lineup includes seven trims: Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, Silverado, Trail Boss, ZR2, and High Country. Chevrolet will continue offering regular, quad, and crew cab styles, along with short, standard, and long bed options.

The exterior design moves toward a more cohesive look than the outgoing model, with more pronounced fenders, new LED taillights, and a distinctive lighting signature around the LED headlights. Those headlights can also play greeting animations for owners.

Other exterior details include a three-foot-wide third brake light on the rear of the cab, a more discreet available sliding rear window, and dual exhaust pipes on almost every model. Chevrolet has also revised the suspension with updated dampers and reduced friction points, though the truck still uses rear leaf springs.

Bigger Screens And New Cabin Features Across The Range

Every 2027 Silverado now comes with a 12.2-inch digital gauge cluster and a 16.3-inch center touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included.

Higher trims add more equipment, including an 11.5-inch front-passenger touchscreen, a head-up display, and a digital rearview mirror. The ZR2 gets Torch Red interior accents and forged carbon trim, described as a first for a GM vehicle.

The High Country adds a more upscale cabin with real wood, upgraded upholstery, available microsuede surfaces, and the Silverado’s first panoramic sunroof. Chevrolet also introduces a Multi-Flex center console with nearly 25 liters of storage, while retaining a column shifter and physical controls for volume and climate settings.

New V-8 Engines And Expanded Off-road Equipment

According to Car and Driver, The engine lineup keeps the 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, now paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission, and the Duramax 3.0-liter diesel straight-six. Two new V-8 engines also join the range: a 5.7-liter and a 6.6-liter, replacing the previous 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter engines.

Chevrolet says the 6.6-liter engine will be the most powerful naturally aspirated V-8 in the segment, though the final specifications have not yet been released.

Off-road versions remain central to the lineup. The Z71 package is now standard on four-wheel-drive models and includes an off-road suspension, skid plates, and hill-descent control. The Custom Trail Boss and Trail Boss receive 34-inch all-terrain tires and a two-inch suspension lift.

The ZR2 remains the most capable Silverado off-roader, now fitted with 35-inch mud-terrain tires, Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers, hydraulic bump stops, and electronic locking front and rear differentials. The Bison Edition adds unique bumpers, rock rails, and beadlock-capable 18-inch wheels.

Chevrolet still has several major details to release, but the new Silverado already marks a broad reset for the brand’s half-ton pickup, from its cabin technology to its off-road hardware.
