Cadillac unveiled its latest three-row crossover at the North American International Auto Show

Cadillac’s crossover collection is expanding yet again

Towards the end of 2018, Cadillac officially released its latest vehicle to the automotive market: the Cadillac XT4. Cadillac designed this crossover to be a slightly smaller counterpart to the popular XT5.

Now, Cadillac is ready to introduce a slightly larger alternative to the XT5. During the North American International Auto Show, the 2020 XT6 made its global debut.

The XT6 is positioned between the XT5 and the Escalade in the Cadillac lineup. Unlike the XT5, the XT6 comes standard with three rows.

Cadillac has also equipped the XT6 with some of its top features and technologies. The goal was to create a crossover that would combine spaciousness with pure luxury.

“Every seat is the best seat in the house,” said Steve Carlisle, the president of Cadillac. “From luxurious appointments, comfort and convenience to premium sound and technology features, every passenger gets an optimized experience.”

Drivers can either choose a more luxurious model or a sportier ride with the XT6

Premium Luxury vs. Sport

In line with Cadillac’s current model strategy, XT6 models will be separated into two groups: Premium Luxury and Sport. Both trim options provide drivers with unique features, many of which are exclusive to one branch or the other.

For example, the XT6 Premium Luxury models come with a Bright Galvano finish for the grille and 20-inch wheels. For the Sport, 21-inch wheels are available, as is a black grille with a V-Series-inspired design.

Under the hood of both versions is a 3.6-liter DOHC V6 engine, which can reportedly produce 310 horsepower. That engine pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission, which features next-generation Electronic Precision Shift.

XT6 drivers can also utilize several selectable drive modes, based on the current driving style they need. All-wheel drive is available on the Premium Luxury model, while it is standard for the Sport.

Interior tech

Inside, passengers will find an assortment of premium amenities. Among the XT6’s many available interior features are heated and ventilated front seats, semi-aniline premium leather-appointed seating, and an in-vehicle air ionizer.

The Cadillac XT6’s available tech is equally as impressive. The available Bose Performance Series sound system includes 14 custom-tuned speakers, while Adaptive Cruise Control makes highway driving less of a chore.

Many of the XT6’s technologies connect to its HD 8-inch diagonal color touch-screen display. Drivers can interact with this infotainment system using a specialized rotary controller, complete with a jog function that works like a joystick.

The XT6 includes some of Cadillac’s most advanced amenities

Standard safety systems include Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking. XT6 customers can always upgrade to available safety systems, like Reverse Automatic Braking and Night Vision capability.

One feature you won’t find with the Cadillac XT6 is Cadillac’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous system. For now, that technology is exclusive to the CT6, though Cadillac plans to bring it to the rest of its vehicles by the end of 2020.

As it stands, the 2020 Cadillac XT6 doesn’t have an official price listed. What we do know is that customers can start ordering the model sometime in spring.
