New Toyota Supra Spied On Set of Upcoming ‘Fast & Furious 9’
If you know anything about the Toyota Supra, you’re probably familiar with the iconic 1993 Supra Mk VI that Paul Walker drove in the original The Fast and the Furious film.
Yesterday, the successor to that Supra was spotted in Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia, by Instagrammer _pw40_. It bore the same shade of orange that Walker’s character, Brian O’Connor, had driven in the 2001 film — a shade that is not currently available from the factory.
O’Connor had heavily modified his Supra with under-the-hood upgrades and custom graphics, showing up a Ferrari driver in one of the film’s most memorable scenes. His Supra was such a hit that Toyota credited the film for helping maintain the car’s popularity long after it went out of production in 2002, which may have been one of the motivations for the car’s revival in 2020.
Today, the Mk VI Supra is one of the most sought-after cars on the collector’s market, so when Toyota did finally confirm the existence of the next-generation model, the follow-up question seemed obvious: Would it be featured in a Fast & Furious film?

The answer seems to be yes, and the Supra’s appearance in Georgia has even helped us garner a few details about the upcoming movie we didn’t know before. For instance, at least some of the action takes place in Eastern Europe, and at some point, the Supra gets dragged all over the place by some kind of armored military vehicle.
Fast & Furious 9 will feature Vin Diesel, John Cena, Charlize Theron, and Michelle Rodriguez, as well as see the return of Jordana Brewster, who plays the role of Mia Toretto, Brian O’Connor’s romantic partner. Brewster had not appeared in the franchise since Walker’s death and may be connected to the Supra’s return.
Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, the stars of the Hobbs & Shaw spin-off currently in theaters, will not be featured in Fast & Furious 9.
