We’ve seen a lot of cool auto projects on KickStarter and other fundraising platforms recently. Specific to KickStarter were the Carpool Deville and the iceScreen Magnetic Ice Shield, while the Solar (Freakin’) Roadways project used Indiegogo. The newest project we’ve spotted is a Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Cadillac ELR prototype.

According to the KickStarter, which is in a feedback stage (meaning it’s not yet live and accepting donations), Keith Stegath wants to build a Cadillac ELR race car to compete in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. He hopes that using an EV as a race car will help to “dispel the golf-cart image” of electric driving. But he’s going to need $175,000 to do it.

Stegath hopes to acquire two ELRs from Cadillac via a donation, granting the automaker sponsorship status. Then he would have to buy battery packs and various motors. Like all KickStarter campaign, Stegath will offer incentives for donating.

As stated, the project is not yet live, but you can check out his draft right now.
