Baby Bronco, I presume?

It’s already known that Ford isn’t just bringing back the Bronco, but it’s also been established that there will be a smaller off-road SUV that folks have affectionately taken to calling the Baby Bronco. Up until now, all we had to work with was one shadowy teaser showing FORD-emblazoned grille and lovably familiar boxy proportions. Now, after a dealer meeting in Las Vegas, we’ve got a clearer look at what we’re working with.

Or, at least we did: Ford quickly swooped in on Off-Road.com after it posted teaser images of what appears to be the Baby Bronco. Off-Road.com was originally under the impression that the photos were of the Bronco proper, but comments from Jim Farley saying that the Bronco was not shown at the meeting seem to confirm that the vehicle in question is indeed its younger sibling.

As far as how it looks? Just head to Google dot com and take a peak. We’re not trying to incur the wrath of Ford over here.

Apart from how it looks, there’s been a wave of speculation about what it will be called. Motor1 in May posited that the smaller off-roading SUV could take on the Maverick mantle, but enthusiast site Bronco6G has it on good authority that it will keep the Bronco name in some form or fashion. The idea posited by an anonymous tipster is that Ford will launch a whole line of off-road SUVs under the Bronco badge.

Likely, we’ll have a bit longer to wait before Ford fully gives up the goods on the Bronco or the Baby Bronco. While the Los Angeles Auto Show is on the immediate horizon, NAIAS in January would probably be the more likely bet. Should Ford reveal the Bronco, a smaller Bronco variant, and the new Shelby GT500 all in one show, it would easily be the talk of Detroit.
