Buick Unveils Buick GL8 Avenir Concept at Shanghai Auto Show
Earlier this month at the Shanghai Auto Show, Lexus made waves with the reveal of its luxury Lexus LM minivan. However, Lexus wasn’t the only automaker to reveal a minivan at the show.
Buick also unveiled its Buick GL8 Avenir concept during the Shanghai Auto Show.
The Latest from Buick: New Buick SUVs
The GL8 last received a refresh from Buick back in 2016. At that time, the model was the first in China to possess the Avenir trim.
The new conceptual version of the GL8 showcases Buick’s design language moving forward. Most notable is a redesigned grille up front, which now flows directly into the GL8’s redesigned headlights.
The front bumper also receives a refreshed look, with angled, chrome accents. Buick didn’t showcase any images of the GLE Avenir’s rear design, but it doesn’t appear all that different from the minivan’s current rendition.
Inside the GL8’s cabin, Buick has added even more new elements. The interior seatbacks, cushions, and armrests now bear a “waterfall-inspired” design language. As for technology, the Buick GL8 Avenir concept comes with a 12-inch infotainment touch screen, as well as a 14-inch head-up display.

Reports suggest that this Buick minivan won’t remain a mere concept vehicle for long. A production version of the new Buick GL8 Avenir could be revealed as early as this year.
While minivans have lost a bit of their luster in the states, it’s always a possibility that Buick could bring the GL8 here to add some diversity to its vehicle lineup. For now, China will at least be able to look forward to this luxurious Buick model.
