The new sub-brand has turned into a big hit for the Enclave and LaCrosse

Copying GMC’s Denali success, Buick has a major hit on its hands with the new Avenir luxury sub-brand.

The Enclave crossover and the LaCrosse sedan both feature Avenir trims. So far, the demand for Enclave Avenirs has been higher than the supply. In response, Buick recently increased production on the model.

Automotive News reports that a year after the sub-brand first appeared, about 25 percent of all Enclaves sold are Avenir models. Meanwhile, about 13 percent of LaCrosses fall into that category.

Another indicator of Avenir’s success: Average transaction prices for the seven-seat Enclave are up 15 percent over the first six months of 2018.

Speaking of average transaction prices, Avenir luxury models don’t come cheap. Pricing for the Enclave starts at $54,495 (and goes all the way up to $65,000), while the LaCrosse starts at $45,795.

For their money, buyers get premium interior materials, distinctive badging, and exclusive features like 20-inch pearl nickel aluminum wheels, a three-dimensional mesh grille, wireless charging, and an 8-inch instrument cluster display.

The Enclave also offers an Avenir-exclusive technology package with adaptive cruise control and a real-time damping suspension.

Buick’s sales numbers are slightly down so far in 2018, so expect the brand to focus even more heavily on the successful Avenir sub-brand. In fact, Buick is already laying plans for an “Avenir 2.0” strategy. The goal is to make Avenir an even more distinctive option than it already is.

Buick is also planning to offer Avenir as an option for more of its vehicles. Eventually, every model in the Buick lineup could feature an Avenir trim.
