A selection of Russian automotive blog judges recently dubbed the Escalade 2020 Off-Road Vehicle of the Year for the full-size SUV segment.

Owner Perks: More reasons to go with a Cadillac

A deserving win

The award was bestowed upon the Cadillac Escalade by Russian magazine Club 4×4. Judges evaluated contenders based on driving characteristics and value.

Per Cadillac Society‘s Sam McEachern, the Escalade outpaced seven competitors to achieve this title. These rivals included the Audi Q7, Lexus GX, Mercedes-Benz GLS, and BMW X7, among others.

And, since the 2021 Escalade hasn’t yet hit the Russian market, it’s safe to assume that the Club 4×4 judges evaluated the 2020 Escalade when determining the winner for this year’s award.

Considering that the 2020 Escalade has done so well in Russia, it’s likely that the 2021 model year will meet with similar success when it enters the market, points out GM Authority‘s Jonathan Lopez. Though, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to know exactly when Cadillac will release this model in the country.

The 2021 Escalade’s off-roading capability isn’t this model’s only selling point, however. Though Cadillac has yet to release this SUV here in America, we’re excited about its updated mechanics and new technology, as well as the characteristic cabin luxuries and space that this SUV is known for. The Russian version of the 2021 Escalade should offer similar amenities and comforts.

Per Car and Driver, the 2021 Escalade will come with one of two engine options: a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 and a turbo-diesel 3.0-liter inline-six. Both mills pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. New for the model year, an independent rear suspension yields a smoother ride quality.

Inside, the 2021 Escalade has leather-covered surfaces and seating, along with ambient lighting and ample cargo space for a cushioned and roomy ride. You can also select the available 19-speaker Studio Sound system or the 36-speaker AKG Studio Reference system, depending on what trim level you go with.

Lastly, the 2021 Escalade will come with the brand’s exclusive Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving tech. Other safety tools include standard automated emergency braking with front and rear pedestrian detection. Lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist is another helpful driver-assist perk. You can also add on available adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode.

Stay tuned for more details as we wait for the 2021 Escalade to release here in America. In the meantime, check out the 2021 Escalade visualizer that lets you customize the SUV to your preferences.
