The Chevrolet Bolt Begins its Journey to Brazil
Back in 2018 at the Sao Paulo International Motor Show, GM revealed its plan to debut the Chevrolet Bolt EV in South America. In Brazil, the Bolt is set to arrive in October, while Argentina and Columbia are expected to get the Bolt before 2019 comes to a close. Brazilian dealers will start taking orders in late June.

It’s no coincidence that Brazil is getting the Bolt first — it’s South America’s largest auto market. Brazilian buyers will only have access to the Bolt’s top trim level, which will cost R$ 175,000 — or about $43,500 USD.
GM has high hopes for the Bolt’s success in this new market. GM Mercosul Marketing Director Hermann Mahnke remarked, “In Brazil, the Bolt EV symbolizes the beginning of the electrification era. It is the first big step towards a more sustainable, secure and connected horizon, aligned with the General Motors vision of zero emissions, zero accidents and zero congestion.” He also noted that the Bolt rivals combustion engine vehicles in terms of range and value.
Based on the automaker’s actions and enthusiasm, it seems that GM to get Brazil’s electrified future off to a strong start. The automaker is working with Brazilian policymakers to improve infrastructure, manage vehicle costs, and develop public policies to encourage EV ownership.

About the Bolt
This feisty little electric vehicle can run up to 238 miles on a single charge. Its peppy powertrain can deliver 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of instantaneous torque. Since it’ll only be available at the Premier trim level, Brazilian buyers will enjoy a wealth of attractive luxury features.
The 2019 Chevrolet Bolt EV Premier comes standard with a leather-wrapped shifter and steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi® hotspot, a 10.2-inch diagonal color touch screen, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Surround Vision.
