Chevrolet History: A Look Back to the 1990s
Admittedly, the 1990s wasn’t the greatest decade for car design. We think of it as more of a transitional decade that helped all us forget what was an even worse decade for style—the 80s!
Fortunately, there were a few remarkable events and significant cars that stand out. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights from Chevrolet history in the 1990s.
1991: Chevrolet launched a new ad campaign for their trucks that featured Bob Seger’s song, “Like a Rock.” We know you know it; go ahead and sing.
- 1992: Chevrolet produces the millionth Corvette.
- 1993: The Chevrolet Camaro Z28 is introduced. This was the fourth-generation of the Camaro, and featured extremely smooth styling.
- 1996: This was the last year that Chevrolet produced the rear-wheel-drive Impala SS performance sedan.
- 1997: The fifth-generation Chevrolet Corvette debuted this year with what Chevrolet calls, “taut yet fluid styling.”
