The 2020 Chevy Bolt EV will boast an extended range from the previous model year. It will also offer two new colors. Here’s a brief overview of these exciting updates.

Increased range

Per GM Authority, the 2020 Chevy Bolt EV model will boast a 259 miles combined electric range. That’s 21 more miles than the 2019 version supplied. To achieve this goal, GM battery engineers improved the cell electrodes’ energy by making some small tweaks to the cell chemistry.

Per GM’s director of battery cell engineering Tim Grewe, this update is a direct response to customer feedback. As rewarding as the 2019 Bolt has been, owners were still voicing a desire for an increased electric range.

Grewe expressed pride at the Bolt’s new capability for 2020. “The Bolt EV set the benchmark for long-range, affordable electric vehicles, and we’re excited to raise the bar by offering nearly 10 percent more EPA-estimated range for the 2020 model year.”

Two new exterior colors

The extended electric range isn’t the only update the 2020 Bolt EV will bring, however. Per GM Authority, this imminent model will add two new exterior shades to its current repertoire: Oasis Blue and Cayenne Orange Metallic. Though, you’ll have to pay a bit extra for the latter.

Anticipated release date

The 2020 Chevy Bolt EV will arrive in dealerships nationwide later this year, as GM Authority confirms. It promises to be a rewarding version of the Bolt, if you’ve been eyeing the 2019 model but are willing to wait a bit longer for the 2020 model’s extended range.
