Dale Earnhardt Jr. had a heckuva Sunday. Not only did his awesome new paintball-themed commercial for Mountain Dew hit the airwaves, but he also won a race. We will leave it to you to decide which is more significant in the annals of time.

Earnhardt won his sixth career Sprint Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday at the Geico 500, beating Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jimmie Johnson by a scant 0.159 seconds. The victory ostensibly guarantees that Junior will participate in the Chase for the Sprint Cup for a fifth year.

The victory ends a decade-plus-long drought at the raceway; Earnhardt Jr’s last victory at Talladega came back in 2004.

“It’s just real emotional,” Earnhardt said. “I haven’t won here in a long, my daddy’s birthday was a couple of days ago. It was real emotional. Everything is so good for me right now. I don’t know why I don’t feel like I deserve it. I just feel overcome with a lot of emotion.

“I’m just blessed. Everything’s going so great.”

Chevrolet took four of the top five spots with Paul Menard finishing in third and Martin Truex Jr. taking fifth. Ryan Blaney finished fourth; Sam Hornish Jr, Ryan Newman, Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin, and Josh Wise rounded out the top ten.
