Edmunds Calls Several Toyotas Top Rated
It was a strong week for Toyota last week, as several accolades from the highly respected Edmunds came their way. For starters, Edmunds named several Toyotas Top Rated Vehicles for 2014. The four winners included the 2014 Avalon full-size sedan, the 2014 Highlander midsize crossover, the 2014 Prius hybrid, and the 2014 Sienna van.
But the “Top Rated Vehicle” distinctions were not the only ones that Toyota received from Edmunds. The car gurus also awarded seven Toyota models with spots on the 2014 Most Popular list, in their respective segments. The winners, and their segments, included the following:
- Avalon—Large Car
- Camry—Midsize Car
- Highlander—Midsize Crossover SUV
- RAV4—Compact Crossover SUV
- Sienna—Minivan
- Tacoma—Compact Truck
- Tundra—Large Truck
To determine the Top Rated Vehicle Award winners, the Edmunds Test Team evaluated around 200 cars on a standardized road-test loop and a test track. The 2014 Most Popular vehicles, however, were decided via monthly evaluations of new vehicle shopping “consideration” in 2013, wherein “consideration” means the number of unique site visits to Edmunds’ desktop site for research and inventory pages.
