Electric Ford Mustang-Inspired SUV Debuts Nov. 17
Ford reveals the latest teaser sketch of its fully electric Mach E weeks before its world premiere
Months of speculation and anticipation will finally come to a head on Nov. 17 when the all-electric Ford Mustang-inspired SUV makes its long-awaited world premiere. Ford stopped short of revealing the official name of its new battery electric SUV, but it did offer up a video that teases how it came together and how it’ll look in profile.
The image at the end of the teaser video makes it pretty clear that the SUV, which will likely be called the Mach E, gets its inspiration from the iconic Ford Mustang. The swooping silhouette is quite fastback-like, its face suggests the signature recessed triple LED headlights and shark bite nose, and it boasts the tri-bar tail lamps we first saw in a sketch of its badonkadonk — all synonymous with Mustang DNA. All we seem to be missing is the hockey stick body line, but that may very well be hidden below the shoulder line and left out of the teaser. Gotta leave ’em wanting more, after all.

The Mustang-Inspired Electric SUV aka the Mach E: What’s in a name?
Little else is known about the electric Mustang-inspired SUV as yet — including its name. The vehicle was announced under the Mach 1 moniker, but outrage from purists quickly led Ford to walk it back. Speculation is that the vehicle will be called the Mach E, and Bill Ford promises that the end result will “go like hell” irrespective of whatever it winds up being called. Ford demoed this hell-like going ability last month in a video that showed off a prototype tearing it up in the snow.
It’s also expected to go like hell for long distances with a Europe-estimated 370 miles of fully electric range, which would put it comfortably over 300 miles stateside.
With the debut date set for Ford’s new electric SUV, all there is left to do is wait and see what springs up next month. November 17 is five days ahead of the start of the Los Angeles Auto Show and a day before the kickoff of AutoMobility LA.
But Will it Tailgate? These are your current best bets when it comes to Ford and football season
