The J.D. Power APEAL Study™ assesses new owners’ opinions on their new vehicles. After owning a vehicle for 90 days, the owners in the study evaluate the layout, performance, content, and design of their new vehicles. In total, owners give feedback on 77 attributes.

How FCA compares in the study

Ram received the highest score of all 18 mass-market brands. Out of 1,000 potential points, Ram earned an impressive 851 points. The score for Ram is 26 points higher than its score for the 2018 study. Accordingly, Ram had the greatest improvement in comparison to the other brands.

Dodge also performed greatly in the 2019 study, only finishing behind Ram. Dodge obtained 848 points and had high-performing individual models. The Dodge Challenger bested the Midsize Sporty Car category, just as it did in the 2019 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study™. Meanwhile, the Dodge Durango was second in the Midsize SUV category, and the Dodge Charger was second in the Large Car Category

With such high performing brands, it comes as little surprise that FCA ranked well overall. FCA earned the seventh place, which is five places higher than its ranking in the 2018 J.D. Power APEAL Study™.

In total, FCA received 830 points, which is higher than the premium-market and mass-market automakers’ averages. At a 20-point year-over-year increase, FCA has the largest improvement of any other automaker in the 2019 study.
