FCA’s Windsor Assembly Plant Sends Eight Chrysler Pacificas Full of Presents to Windsor’s Local Toy Drive

Chrysler is serving as a not-so-secret Santa in Windsor, Ontario

According to holiday lore, Christmas presents are traditionally delivered by a team of eight tiny reindeer (nine if you include Rudolph). Last week in Windsor, Ontario, that herd of miniature caribou was replaced by a fleet of Chrysler Pacificas. FCA’s Windsor Assembly Plant recently filled eight Pacifica minivans with donated toys for local children. In all, the donated items were valued at a total price of just over $25,000.

Giving Back This Season: Ways to volunteer and donate

The toys were donated to Sparky’s Toy Drive, a local holiday campaign organized by the Windsor Fire and Rescue Services. The initiative, named after the organization’s Dalmatian mascot, delivers toys to more than 3,200 children in need during the holiday season.

2017 certainly wasn’t the first year that the Windsor plant has donated to the Sparky’s Toy Drive; in fact, it marks the 15th year of collaboration between the plant and the drive. Since 2002, the Windsor Assembly Plant has filled more than 80 minivans with toys for children.

“FCA Windsor Assembly employees have been an integral part of Sparky’s Toy Drive success over the years,” said Sean Costello, Sparky’s Toy Drive Coordinator. “They are consistently our largest contributor and their donations prove year after year that this program could not exist without them.”

The minivans that delivered the presents to the drive were decorated as Santa’s eight reindeer. So in a way, it was almost like the iconic team of sleigh-hauling deer did deliver Christmas gifts to the children of Windsor.

Sorry, Rudolph. No Pacifica for you.

Sparky’s Toy Drive operates between now and December 23. Toys and monetary gifts can be dropped off at any Windsor fire station.
