When the Buick GL8 Avenir concept debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show, it seemed like it just had a few simple cosmetic upgrades. Well, it boasts some pretty big changes on the inside. Befitting from Buick’s Chinese market strategy — targeting high-class business executives — the Buick GL8 Avenir is packed with style, luxury, and cutting-edge technology. Here’s a look at the luxurious interior of the Chinese-exclusive Buick GL8 Avenir.

Technology and comfort

The center stack has two 12-inch screens. One displays the operating parameters, while the other shows the infotainment system. It’s also got a massive 14-inch head-up display that’s capable of joining information from both screens, letting you keep your eyes on the road.

For backseat passengers, the Buick GL8 Avenir concept has high-definition screens mounted to the front seat backs, a built-in surround sound system, and backseat wireless charging stations. The backseat center armrest has dual built-in touch screens to control various functions, likely including seat heating and cooling, climate control, and infotainment options. Each luxurious seat features an ergonomic headrest and leather upholstery with a cascading diamond pattern.

Of course, the GL8 has some awesome-yet-unexpected features, too. For instance, there’s a wine cabinet in the center console, an illuminated starry sky pattern on the ceiling, and ambient lighting with 18 different color options.

The GL8 Avenir concept only seats four, compared to the seven-seat arrangement on the production GL8. While it’s unknown if this four-seat arrangement will carry over to some models of the production GL8 Avenir, it’s a sure bet that some of these amazing comfort and technology features will make the cut.
