GM’s LGBT Support Is Reaffirmed

The fight for full equality for all citizens in the United States, including members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community (LGBT), has been long and hard. While there is still a long way to go, things have been looking up for equality. GM’s LGBT support has remained ever strong throughout the fight, and has become even more prominent with the company’s recent #New campaign commercials for Chevy, including #TheNewLove and #TheNewUs.

Recently, GM released a statement on its commitment to the LGBT community, which included the following statement: “Our commitment to LGBT diversity starts at the core of our company’s policies and extends out to the community. GM has a strong anti-discrimination policy that protects LGBT employees and we are also the only automotive company to support the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.” For over 10 years, General Motors has been working to protect its LGBT employees and just last year began to offer domestic benefits to LGBT couples.
