Honda S2000 Parts to Become Available Again
The popular Honda S2000 has been out of production for more than a decade, and while the automaker is unlikely to build a new one, it will start to make new Honda S2000 parts for those seeking to keep their icon in good shape.
The parts catalog will launch in June, but for now the only information available about what’s to come is on the company’s Japanese-language website, which doesn’t list any parts. That’s because Honda isn’t yet sure what parts to make, and it says it’s looking for the input of S2000 owners and fans to figure it out.
If you do have some ideas about what Honda S2000 parts should be made, you can post on Facebook or Twitter using the #S2000PartsCatalog hashtag. According to Motor Trend, Honda also wants to know what parts would become the hardest to find if supply stopped, such as those without an aftermarket equivalent.
Old School: Get your classic car reconditioned to be like new
You have between Feb. 20 and April 30, 2020, to provide your feedback. Honda will then update the website in May and reveal the finalized parts catalog in June.
Though there have been rumors that Honda would make a brand new S2000 (and it’s clear the automaker hasn’t forgotten about what’s arguably its most popular car), there has yet to be any concrete evidence the S2000 is making a comeback. Indeed, putting old parts back into production may even be evidence to the contrary — that Honda is happy to simply let owners maintain the existing S2000 rather than look to a new generation.
Then again, bringing back the Supra hasn’t stopped Toyota from creating the GR Heritage Project for A70 and A80 models, so anything could happen. In any case, whether a new S2000 is in the pipeline or not, it’s nice to see Honda joining in the rising movement to produce heritage parts for beloved cars.
