Honda Sells Two Coupes to Extreme Speed Motorsports for 2015 Racing Season
Honda Performance Development (HPD) has announced that it has sold two new HPD ARX-04b Honda coupes to the Extreme Speed Motorsports team to compete in its bold 2015 racing program.
The ARX-04b is already fully compliant with the latest ACO LMP2 regulations and safety standards of the new enclosed-cockpit configuration, which makes it eligible to participate in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, FIA World Endurance Championship, European Le Mans Series, and Asian Le Mans Series.
Under the hood of the new beast is a proven 2.8-liter twin-turbo, direct-injected, production-based Honda HR28TT V6 powertrain already found in several Honda and Acura passenger cars. These special V6s, however, also feature a drive-by-wire throttle system and turbo fresh air valve system that eliminates turbo lag and helps improve reliability and performance.
The 2015 season will mark Extreme Speed Motorsports’ sixth. Drivers Ed Brown, Ryan Dalziel, and Johannes van Overbeek are expected to compete in the 2015 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and may also consider making their first attempt at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
