2020 Hyundai Palisade

Hyundai won’t introduce the 2020 Palisade SUV until later this evening at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Thanks to some leaked photos, though, we’ve been treated to an early look at the Korean automaker’s new three-row SUV.

Based on those early photos, here’s what we can discern: On the outside, the Palisade features Hyundai’s signature cascading grille, a distinctive headlight layout, and a boxy shape similar to the Santa Fe. These styling details are far from bland, but overall, the Palisade’s exterior seems designed to fit in rather than dominate the road.

The interior of the Palisade features a new climate control layout and a center console with a drive-mode dial and push-button shifting. It also includes a wireless charging pad, although it’s not clear whether this will be a standard or available feature.

Although the leaked photos offer an intriguing peek at the Palisade, there are plenty of details left for Hyundai to fill in during tonight’s unveiling. For example, we don’t yet know any specifics about the Palisade’s powertrain, trim levels, or standard vs. available features.

What we do know is that the Palisade will be able to seat up to eight passengers, making it the largest vehicle in Hyundai’s lineup. (The current champ is the seven-seat Santa Fe XL.) We also know that Hyundai is aiming for an upscale yet understated family-hauler image for its new SUV, thanks to the imagery conjured by the Palisade nameplate.
