For the second year in a row, INFINITI will sponsor the Boston Marathon — and the QX50 luxury midsize crossover will act as the official lead vehicle. But that’s not all — the automaker will also salute Marine veteran Dan Lasko and donate to the Boston Athletic Association’s official charity, Semper Fi Fund.

“This event recognizes some of our country’s greatest heroes, and we are eager to see one of those heroes, Dan Lasko, cross the finish line,” said Tedros Mengiste, Regional Vice President, East Region for INFINITI USA.

A Legacy of Luxury: The history of INFINITI

Honoring a veteran

As a gesture of appreciation, INFINITI granted complimentary entry into the Boston Marathon to U.S. Marine Corps veteran Dan Lasko. Lasko enlisted on Sept. 11, 2001, and served as a Corporal from 2001 to 2005, deployed with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. While deployed, Lasko’s vehicle was hit by two improvised explosive devices, resulting in the loss of his left leg below the knee. Determined to stay active despite his injury, Lasko went on to participate in marathons and triathlons, now including the Boston Marathon.

Semper Fi Fund

In honor of the 30th anniversary of the Semper Fi Fund, INFINITI is donating $10,000 to help soldiers in need. According to the President, CEO, and Founder of Semper Fi Fund, Karen Guenther, the charity provides support and resources for combat wounded, critically ill, and catastrophically injured members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.
