Jeep will remove the all-electric Wagoneer S from its 2026 lineup after a sharp drop in demand. The model is expected to return in 2027 with updates, following a difficult commercial run marked by heavy discounts and falling sales. The decision reflects a broader struggle for the Wagoneer S, which failed to sustain momentum after initial incentives disappeared.

Despite efforts to move inventory, the electric SUV has seen its sales collapse within months. Positioned as a high-performance electric offering, the Wagoneer S entered a competitive segment with ambitious specifications and pricing. Its pause now highlights the gap between expectations and market response.

Sales Collapse Despite Heavy Discounts

According to Carscoops, some dealers offered discounts of nearly $25,000 to clear inventory, helping Stellantis sell 10,864 units in the United States last year. That effort proved short-lived. Once the federal tax credit was eliminated, demand dropped sharply.

Figures reported by Automotive News show that only 438 units were sold in the fourth quarter of 2025. The slowdown continued into 2026, with just 175 units sold in the first quarter. At that pace, annual sales would reach roughly 700 units, a dramatic decline compared to the previous year.

Temporary Halt With Planned Return In 2027

The Wagoneer S will not be sold during the 2026 model year. The hiatus has been confirmed and mirrors similar pauses seen elsewhere in the industry, including the Volkswagen ID. Buzz.

A spokesperson cited by Car & Driver explained that Stellantis is “pacing production of the all-electric Jeep Wagoneer S to support future improvements in battery performance, software, and capability.” The model is expected to return in 2027 with these updates in place.

One notable change will be the addition of a NACS charging port, allowing direct access to Tesla Superchargers without requiring an adapter.

Pricing And Performance Under Pressure

The Wagoneer S enters the market at $65,200, rising to $70,200 for the Launch Edition. This version delivers 600 horsepower, equivalent to 447 kW or 608 PS.

This pricing places it above key competitors. The Ford Mustang Mach-E GT starts at $53,395, with an optional performance upgrade priced at $1,295. While the Ford produces 480 horsepower, it reaches 0–60 mph in 3.3 seconds, slightly quicker than the Wagoneer S at 3.4 seconds.

These comparisons highlight the challenges faced by the Jeep model, where higher cost does not translate into a clear performance advantage.
