Jeep is getting ready to introduce one of its most-anticipated vehicles ever: the Jeep Gladiator pickup truck. Prior to the Gladiator’s official debut, however, the Jeep brand is experiencing some slowing sales.

In fact, Jeep sales were down by 8 percent in April.

Impressive Jeep Sales: Jeep’s best sales year on record in 2018

Last month, Jeep sold a total of 76,325 vehicles. The prior April, it sold 82,641 models.

Jeep’s sales during the April of 2018 were unusually high, due to the recent debut of the next-generation Jeep Wrangler. In fact, it remains of the Wrangler’s best sales months ever, with 29,776 Wrangler models sold.

By comparison, Jeep sold 22,422 Jeep Wranglers last month. Still, those numbers are nothing to scoff at.

Jeep’s other best-seller during 2018, the Jeep Cherokee, is also losing a bit of momentum. Cherokee sales were down by 13 percent, with a total of 14,681 units sold.

The Grand Cherokee is making up for the falling sales of its smaller cousin. Jeep sold 20,469 Grand Cherokee models last month, a 23 percent sales increase.

The Grand Cherokee is also experiencing increased sales for the year as a whole. Grand Cherokee sales are currently up 12 percent so far this year.

Jeep Compass sales also received a boost last month

The Jeep Compass also saw sales increases last month. Jeep delivered 12,697 Compass models in total, accounting for a 10 percent increase.

Finally, the compact Jeep Renegade suffered the most significant sales decline, with a 26 percent sales decrease. Year-to-date sales for the Renegade are also down by 26 percent.

An Expanding Jeep Lineup: Fiat Chrysler says new electric Jeep models coming soon

Overall, Jeep has delivered 289,129 vehicles so far this year. While that’s down by 7 percent compared to this point in time last year, it’s also the most vehicles sold out of any of FCA’s brands. That number will only continue to grow once Jeep fully integrates the Gladiator into its lineup.
