During Super Bowl LIV in February, Kia decided against a traditional advertisement and instead promoted “Yards Against Homelessness” with NFL rookie Josh Jacobs. Through that campaign, the automaker ended up donating $1 million to three charities designated to help homeless youth across the country. Now, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kia has donated an additional $1 million through its Accelerate the Good program.

In its latest commercial, Kia asks “How do you shelter in place when your home is the sidewalk or wash your hands for 20 seconds when there’s no soap or running water?” The $1 million donation will go to multiple non-profits, including Covenant House and StandUp for Kids, both of which were included in the previous post-Super Bowl donation.
“Giving back in meaningful ways is a key component of Kia’s Give It Everything strategy here in the U.S., which is especially true in tough times like these. With shelter in place orders all but impossible for the estimated 4.2 million homeless youth in the U.S. to adhere to, we are humbled to once again provide financial assistance to organizations dedicated to helping this at-risk population,” said Kia Motors America president Michael Cole.

This monetary aid is building on previous actions done through the Accelerate the Good program, which included donating N95 masks and gloves to medical facilities in Orange County, where Kia’s headquarters is located. On top of helping medical staff, the automaker is assisting new and existing customers through a variety of financial programs, payment deferments, and service care initiatives. Knowing Kia, this is likely just the beginning of its efforts to give back during this difficult time.
