Kia Motors Announces Best-Ever April Sales
Kia is on a roll. The South Korean carmaker recently announced its all-time best April sales. After celebrating the best first quarter in the company’s history, Kia has sold 56,508 units in April of 2016, which is a 6.1% increase compared to the same period last year.
“Economic indicators remained positive, powering Kia to one of the strongest performances in company history,” said Michael Sprague, chief operating officer and Executive Vice President for Kia Motors America. “As a recognized leader in design, quality, and technology, our call to consumers to ‘Discover the New Kia’ is paying off as dealers report an influx of customers who are considering Kia for the first time.”
Helping Kia achieve these record-breaking April sales was the all-new 2017 Kia Sportage. This compact crossover saw its sales increase 78.9% year-over-year, which is understandable because of the significant changes it has received. This includes a tweaked exterior design—including new LED fog lights—and better fuel efficiency than the last model year.
Along with the Sportage, the Kia Forte also saw a significant increase in sales with 9,740 vehicles sold in April 2016 compared to last April’s 7,183.
Since Kia officially introduced itself to the American market in 1992, it has slowly become a household name in the United States. It is currently the “Official Automotive Partner” of the NBA and LPGA; it even set an all-time sales record last year for its 2015 sales. With this type of progress, it doesn’t seem like Kia is going anywhere any time soon.
