LEGO Releases New C7 Corvette ZR1 Technic Kit

Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size Text Size Print This Page

Many car enthusiasts enjoy channeling their passion for autos by assembling vehicle models kits from manufacturers like LEGO. While past LEGO Technic kits have highlighted European performance cars, like Porsches and Ferraris, the latest one pays homage to an American-made model: the C7 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.

Though the kit contains fewer parts and is simpler to construct than the European model kits, it has one major edge. It costs just $49.99, which is significantly cheaper than many of the brand’s kits. The Bugatti Chiron, for example, will set you back $349.99, while the Porsche 911 GT3 will cost you $299.99.

The Corvette kit boasts a few other cool advantages as well. The finished model incorporates a V8 engine with pistons that move, as well as a working steering system. But you can also opt to build a classic hot rod, by following the set of additional instructions LEGO includes with the kit.

LEGO expressed pride about the new offering, stating that the Corvette ZR1 kit “really captures the essence of the iconic supercar and comes with an authentic orange and black color scheme, black-spoked rims with low-profile tires, large rear wing, and four tailpipes.”

Order the car for yourself from the LEGO website starting Jan. 1. It’s a great way to help celebrate the new year in a more budget-friendly way than buying an actual Corvette. Though, if you are in the market for a new Corvette, feel free to check out the model overview of the 2019 ZR1.
