Mark Reuss and Doug Parks take on new roles

On Nov. 1, General Motors President Mark Reuss added additional responsibilities to his title to include oversight for the North America, South America, China, and International Regions. The move was one of several announced as GM continues to adapt its corporate infrastructure to its global needs and across key areas including electrification and autonomous vehicles.

“Our industry is transforming faster than at any time in its history,” said GM CEO MaryBarra. “Aligning our regional operations under Mark will drive even greater collaboration and speed-to-market and accelerate growth opportunities in our core business and in the future of mobility.”

GM announced that several high-ranking executives will now report directly to Reuss as part of his new reach. These include: GM North America President Barry Engle, GM China President Matt Tsien, Cadillac President Steve Carlisle, Global Quality and Operational Excellence Vice President Tony Francavilla, Global Portfolio Planning Vice President Dave Kuhl, and Global Design Vice President Michael Simcoe.

In addition to the expanded role for Reuss, GM announced that Autonomous and Electric Vehicle Programs Vice President Doug Parks has been appointed to the position of executive vice president of Global Product Development, Purchasing, and Supply Chain. Parks has been the VP of GM’s Autonomous and Electric Vehicle Programs since 2016. He will also report to Reuss.

“I am honored to lead our Global Product Development, Purchasing, and Supply Chain team, and look forward to continuing the momentum already established by Mark and our exceptional lineup of vehicles.”

GM also named several new appointments for positions reporting to Parks in his new role. VP of Global Product Programs Ken Morris is now the vice president of Autonomous and Electric Vehicle Programs, Tim Herrick is now the vice president of Global Product Programs, and Shilpan Amin is now the vice president of Global Purchasing and Supply Chain.
