GM’s Maven ride-share service has been thriving so much that it will soon expand services to Perth, Australia. The launch date is set for Oct. 1.

To help give the initiative a solid start, Holden has promoted industry veteran John Kett to general manager of Maven Australia. He’ll spearhead the Maven Car Sharing and Maven Gig operations, as the service establishes itself in this new location.

Kett expressed enthusiasm for Maven’s Perth expansion. “This is an exciting time to be leading Maven in Australia. We have all the drive and passion of a true startup, while being able to leverage the global might of GM and Maven, as well as the world-class Holden portfolio of vehicles.”

Maven is already available in a handful of Australian cities, including Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, and the Gold Coast. The service has a fleet of 2,000 Holden vehicles in the country as a whole. According to Kett, Holden is the leading OEM with a stake in Australia’s gig economy.

The new expansion in Perth promises to enhance Maven’s success in the region, as well as create new jobs for those interested in the ride-share industry. Driving for Maven is a great part-time job, though some turn it into a full-time one because they enjoy the independence of the role. Maven provides drivers with a Holden vehicle, as well as flexible rental terms, 24/7 roadside assistance and driving insurance.

We wish Maven the best of luck as it launches in Perth in a few days. Stay tuned for more news in the days ahead.
