The Commercial

The ad begins with real Chevy owners (not actors) pulling up to this warehouse in their respective rides. Similar to the Malibu and Cruze commercials that aired earlier this year, the Chevy sales rep asks the owners their top priorities when picking a vehicle. The actors respond with elements such as sleek design, performance, and dependability. The ad focuses on that last answer above the others, which foreshadows the script’s mention of the J.D. Power accolades.

“Here’s some vehicles that deliver on that,” the sales rep interjects. The warehouse doors slide open to reveal — the participants’ own vehicles. The owners express excited exclamations about how pleased they were that their vehicles made the cut.

The sales person then drives the deal home, finally disclosing the details about the automaker’s recognition from J.D. Power. “Chevy’s the only brand to have earned J.D. Power Dependability awards across its lineup of cars, trucks, and SUVs for three years in a row.” This award is based on the 2013, 2014, and 2015 model year vehicles.
