The 2019 Chevrolet Cheyenne

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will be sold in Mexico as two separate models: the Silverado and the Cheyenne.

In Mexico, the 2019 Silverado nameplate will be used for a bare-bones truck that will primarily be sold as a fleet vehicle. This version will be similar to the American Silverado Work Truck trim. It will be sold as a regular or crew cab in both 2WD and 4WD configurations.

The sole engine option for this model will be a 4.3-liter V6 engine that puts out 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. The Silverado’s design will include a black front fascia and a grille with “CHEVROLET” lettering on a horizontal bar.

The 2019 Cheyenne nameplate will target the retail market and offer a more upscale selection of features and design touches. It will be offered as a crew cab only in four trim levels: RST, Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country.

The Cheyenne will offer a pair of engine options. The first will be a 5.3-liter V8 that makes 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The second will be a 6.2-liter V8 that delivers 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Unlike the American Silverado, the Cheyenne will not be offered with a new 2.7-liter turbo engine or a new 3.0-liter turbo-diesel.

In America, the Cheyenne name was once used for the highest trim of the Chevy C/K pickup, which was discontinued in the late 1990s. However, in Mexico, the Cheyenne has been a separate nameplate since the 1970s.

These models are expected to go on sale at Mexican dealerships sometime during the first three months of 2019.
