New-Look 2018 Buick Envision Available Now in China
The 2018 Buick Envision was launched in China last week, adding the brand’s updated design language and updating performance with the addition of a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The popular crossover, of which Buick has sold 169,227 examples in China since the start of 2017, is likely to only see its popularity boom with a revised front and rear aesthetic consistent with the brand’s new style.
This includes the “flying wing” front grille—anchored by the classic tri-shield Buick logo, which is flanked by sleek wings that reach to the corners of the single-piece grille—and the “spread-wing” LED headlamps that surround it, as well as chrome-trimmed fog lights and a new lower bumper. In the back, the Envision gets more chrome trim, diamond-shape LED taillights, trapezoidal tailpipes, and revised fenders.
Among the selling points for the 2018 Envision are a standard aluminum alloy roof rack, Active Noise Cancellation technology, cruise control, and Buick eMotion Intelligent Drive Technology. Perhaps the most significant performance point for the updated Envision is the addition of GM’s nine-speed Hydra-Matic transmission, which is mated to the Envision’s 2.0-liter turbo and helps cut 0.2 seconds off of its 0-62 mph time.
The 2018 Envision remains the only vehicle in the segment with FlexRide adaptive driving system, which provides four distinct driving modes for a more customizable on-road experience. Also new for the 2018 model year are Meteoric Iron Gray and Rosewood Red exterior colors.
Pricing for the 2018 Buick Envision ranges from RMB 219,900 (approximately $33,335 USD) to RMB 319,900 (approximately $48,495 USD).
