Nissan Wears the Twitter Crown
It is undeniable that Nissan is a pretty fun car brand. You know that by just considering the cars it has produced over the years, from the funky Nissan cube, to the alien Nissan Juke, and the extremely fun Nissan 370Z and GT-R. According to ListenFirst, a company that helps brands digest their vast amounts of data and turn it into strategy, Nissan was the king of automotive Twitter accounts in October and November. With Nissan’s partnership with Star Wars going at full tilt in December, we wonder if the crown will easily stay with the brand this month as well.
Surprisingly, Nissan’s winning tweet was not really a promotional tweet. It was simply a photo of the Nissan GT-R R34 with the caption “Those tail lights, though.” The simple approach clearly worked, as the tweet received more than 5,000 likes and about 1,900 retweets. What makes this tweet’s victory even more surprising was that it was posted on November 28th, which gave it very little time to collect interaction for the month compared to some of its other posts.

A lot of the responding tweets were from jealous Americans, as the Nisan GT-R R34, which is not available in the United States. Even rich collectors cannot bring it to the US, thanks to strict import laws that demand drivers wait 25 years from production.
We wish Nissan the best luck in December’s competition to win the Twitter crown. Considering that no other brand sells something quite like the GT-R, we’re sure that they are doing just fine.
