A Quick Overview: Eco-friendly technology in the Outlander PHEV
Why the Outlander PHEV is being recognized
Green Car Journal announced the winner of the 2020 Family Green Car of the Year award at the 2019 San Antonio Auto & Truck Show on November 21st. As a whole, the Green Car Awards aim to showcase the vehicles that are great environmentally-friendly options for drivers.
The Outlander PHEV earned the title of 2020 Family Green Car of the Year for combining the efficiency of a plug-in electric vehicle with the capability and versatility of a sport-utility vehicle.
When receiving the award, Jim Sweeting, Sales Manager, Central Region, Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA), said, “Winning Green Car Journal’s first-ever Green Family Car of the Year award is a great honor and recognition of Outlander PHEV’s potent combination of reliability, efficiency and value.”
The Outlander PHEV also received the 2020 Green Car Product of Excellence award, beating out other competitors with its environmental performance. These awards come as little surprise, given that the Green Car Journal named the vehicle the 2019 Green SUV of the Year.
The SUV is able to help keep you in control on different road conditions while also being efficient, due to its Super All-Wheel Control system. The Outlander PHEV gets an EPA-estimated 74 mpg-e and has a 22-mile all-electric driving range, which pairs with a gas motor.
