[Photos] 2019 Ford GT Carbon Edition is Great and All, But No Cup Holders?
The 2019 Ford GT is an insane supercar that far too many folks won’t ever have the privilege of driving. The 2019 Ford GT Carbon Series isn’t much different: it’s an insane supercar that far too many folks won’t ever have the privilege of driving, but it’s a much lighter one!
The 2019 Ford GT Carbon Series sheds about 40 pounds from the already insane GT thanks to carbon fiber wheels, titanium lugnuts and exhaust, and a vented polycarbonate rear hatch. Unlike other stripped-down track-primed variants like the nutso Shelby GT350R, it doesn’t forego some of the essential high-ends like SYNC 3 and air conditioning, but it does lack one thing: cup holders. No cup holders? C’mon. Just. C’mon. People need their coffee, Ford.

“The Ford GT Carbon Series stands out on the road with its striking carbon fiber-rich design and on the track with its athleticism,” says Hermann Salenbauch, global director, Ford Performance. “It is yet another example of how we can bring to life our Le Mans-winning supercar in new and exciting ways so our customers can share in that magical legacy.”
Hope you’re all ready for a magical legacy without the benefit of an accessory that holds your beverage firmly in place. Only joking. You can just squeeze your big gulp in between your thighs, which will no doubt be trembling with glee thanks to the GT’s exceptional power.
In any case, it doesn’t much matter. The 2019 Ford GT Carbon Series is super limited—big surprise—so the odds of having to forego the convenience of a cup holder for improved performance is pretty low. You can check out all the photos, though, and then be thankful that your old clunker at least holds your drinks for you.
