Scion to Bring “Maximum Attack” FR-S to Chicago Auto Show
It’s now just over a week until the media preview kicks off for the Chicago Auto Show (CAS), and we’re hearing tidbits here and there about what we can expect to see. While we don’t have all the details, we know that Scion will be bringing the winner of its 10th annual Tuner Challenge—the “Maximum Attack” FR-S—to the show, and we’re pretty excited to see this monster in the flesh.
The tricked-out FR-S first appeared in public at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas last November, where it was named winner of the Tuner Challenge. The challenge gives media partners 90 days and $15,000 to make over a Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0. The winning team decked out the “Maximum Attack” FR-S with a custom louvre treatment and a special design kit by Kei Miura to give it a 1970s feel, complete with the racing number 86.
Scion will also bring its tC Release Series 9.0 to CAS, as well as the Scion Swag Machine and the Scion Live Drive. The latter allows show attendees to test drive various vehicles, such as the FR-S, xB, and tC on real roads close to the show. The News Wheel will be there to see it for ourselves, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated on what we see both from Scion and from other automakers.
