Subaru Celebrates US Anniversary With Cupcakes and Cars
No matter what industry you’re in, a 50th anniversary is a pretty big deal. This week at the Chicago Auto Show, Subaru threw a party to celebrate its 50 years in business in the United States. Members of The News Wheel staff at the brand’s press conference were treated to some pretty amazing cupcakes, but even if you didn’t make it to the Windy City you can still celebrate with Subaru. Instead of going to a bakery, though, you should head to a Subaru dealership.

Subaru announced that every vehicle in its 2018 lineup is now available in a special 50th Anniversary Edition based on a high-level trim the vehicle currently has. These special edition vehicles will be in a new Heritage Blue color and bear 50th Anniversary Edition badging on the exterior and interior. The wheels will also receive a special wheel finish. While someone needs to tell Subaru that gold is the traditional color for 50th anniversaries, we have to admit that this shade of blue is pretty impressive when you see it in person.
Besides those major upgrades, the 50th Anniversary Subaru vehicles will come equipped with satin chrome exterior trim, satin chrome side mirrors (excluding BRZ, STI, and WRX), black upholstery with silver stitching, and silver front seat belts. Of course, all special edition vehicles will carry standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technology.
If you want to add one of these vehicles to your fleet, you should act fast. The cars are on sale now in dealerships, and only 1,050 Special Edition vehicles will be made each of the Crosstrek, Forester, Impreza, Legacy and Outback. Fans of the WRX, STI, and BRZ should run even faster because there will only be 1,050 of these models produced combined.
