Toyota Supra GT Teaser

Is the wait for the Supra over yet? Not yet, Toyota says, but have another teaser. This time it’s for the Super GT version of the car, which will launch at the Tokyo Auto Salon next month.

The good news is that this may finally be the last Supra teaser we see before the real thing is revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit exactly one month from today.

It seems that Toyota is reluctant to reveal anything about even a Supra variant until the production-spec car gets its proper launch, which we suppose makes sense but also means we don’t get to see much about the Super GT variant.

The shadowy profile shows a huge wing and hints at vented wheel arches and a big diffuser, the kind of stuff you regularly see in Japan’s Super GT series or at Le Mans, which the Supra may also participate in. It will also be in NASCAR.

A Toyota Prius in GT300-spec has already been spied testing earlier this month, suggesting that the Supra will compete in the top GT500 class. Still, that’s about as detailed as our knowledge of the car goes at the present time.

While competing, the car will fly under Toyota Gazoo Racing colors, which already participates in various motorsport series around the world with great success, including the World Endurance Championship and the World Rally Championship.

Alongside the GT-spec Supra will be other must-see exhibition vehicles like the TS050 Hybrid, Yaris WRC, and 2019 Lexus LC Nürburgring-spec.
