The All-New 2020 Chevy Onix Debuts in South America

Seven years after GM debuted the Chevy Onix in Brazil, the popular subcompact’s second generation is about to hit dealerships in South American markets. This versatile vehicle is available as both a sedan and a hatchback, so it’s no surprise that the Onix is Latin America’s bestselling model.

About the Onix
For the 2020 model year, the all-new Onix is built upon a completely new interior and exterior architecture, called the GM Global Emerging Markets architecture. The GEM-platform Onix offers more refinement, style and safety architecture than its predecessor.
Carlos Zarlenga, the president of GM South America, is understandably proud of the new vehicle. “Onix will once again raise the bar of its segment,” he said in a statement translated form Portuguese. “Technologies previously unthinkable for the category, such as Wi-Fi, parking assist and six airbags, are now available in the new Onix. Best of all, for the same price.”

New tech and comfort features
Just like a smartphone, the new Onix features fully integrated Wi-Fi capabilities. Not only can the car provide on-the-go high-speed connectivity, it enables the car to receive over-the-air system updates.
South American drivers will also receive standard OnStar and Chevy’s latest multimedia infotainment system. Available features include a wireless charging station for compatible phones, multiple USB ports, push-button start, and compatibility with the MyChevrolet mobile app, which allows you to check your vehicle’s health and fuel range, among other stats, from your smartphone.
Onix around the world
The 2020 Onix has already debuted in China, but it’s far from the only place you can buy an Onix. This little car is available in over 40 different countries but isn’t currently offered in North America.
