The Toyota RAV4 was recognized as the top crossover at the 2020 Hispanic Motor Press Awards ceremony during the official opening of the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Presented by the Hispanic Motor Press Foundation, the HMPA recognize the most significant cars in the market and in their class to the extent that they meet the needs and desires of Hispanic families. Therefore the independent panel of jurors for the awards is made up of Hispanic automotive journalists, industry influences, and bloggers, whom evaluated over 250 new models before selecting the few winners.

According to Ricardo Rodriguez-Long, president of the Hispanic Motor Press, family safety was one of the main factors that led to the RAV4 being recognized as the best vehicle in the crossover class for Hispanic families, among its many other qualities.

“We like the roominess of this new generation and the integration of mobile technology,” Rodriguez-Long added. “Historically, the RAV4 has maintained a very high resale value and this new model will be no different. These features in addition to the uncompromised safety and technology makes the RAV4 the best overall package in its class.”

Though Toyota showed off the 2021 RAV4 Prime at the same auto show, it was the gas-powered 2020 RAV4 that the Hispanic Motor Press reviewed, which comes with a few new features over the 2019 model, including an off-road model engineered by Toyota Racing Development. The SUV also received Android Auto smartphone compatibility to complete the trifecta (with Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa) as well as standard SiriusXM three-month trials.
