[VIDEO] Toyota My Bold Dad Commercial Tugs at the Heartstrings
Some people watch the Super Bowl for the game itself. Others hang around for the commercials. If you fall into the latter camp, you probably noticed the overabundance of ads last night featuring families—dads in particular—and wondered if it was a requisite for those who wanted to advertise. Automakers were all over the dad theme, including Toyota, whose main commercial was entitled My Bold Dad, with plenty of cameos from the Camry. Camreos, if you will.
The “real” dad portrayed in the commercial (in contrast to the famous sportsball dads shown in Toyota’s teaser ad) shows that “being a dad is more than being a father; it’s a choice.” The dad chooses to do things like capture spiders, eradicate bee hives from tree houses, stand up for his daughter, be there for her when she needs him most, and eventually, watch her go off to join the military as an adult. And, of course, all of this is done from the comfort of a Camry.
Don’t mess with his daughter
It’s all part of Toyota’s #OneBoldChoice campaign, which salutes dads for making the right choices for their kids. All of this ties in with the redesigned 2015 Camry, which Toyota touts as a “bold” car.
