2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Performance
A 4.6-liter turbocharged V8 powers the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S550, producing 449 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque with a standard seven-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel-drive. 4MATIC® all-wheel-drive is an option as well. For the 2014 S63 AMG, a 5.5-liter turbocharged V8 is the ticket, churning out 577 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel-drive is standard for this model along with a specialized seven-speed automatic transmission.

EPA-estimated fuel economy for the S550 is 20 mpg combined. The S63 AMG fuel economy rating is not currently available.

The backseat is enormous, providing comfort to all passengers with the ability to add an entertainment system, airplane-style pop out trays, and a fridge to make those in the rear seat even more comfortable.

Advanced antilock brakes, stability and traction control, a radar-based collision prevention system, a driver inattention warning system, front and rear seat side airbags, and side curtain airbags and a driver-knee airbag are all standard safety features for the Mercedes Benz S-Class. Also standard is the mbrace2™ communications system, which includes safety assistance features such as automatic collision notification and an SOS button, among many others. The Drive Assistance package also offers numerous safety technologies, such as advanced blind-spot assist and lane-keeping assist.
