2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI Earn TOP SAFETY PICK
In its first bout of IIHS testing, the WRX/WRX STI earned high marks for keeping drivers and passengers safe. All that delicious performance? Simply a bonus.
Didn’t already have enough reasons to love the 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI? Perhaps you’re one of those who thinks, “Well, sure, it’s great. Every conceivable aspect about this car is great, but, ya know, I think I just need a little bit more convincing.” If you are that fickle creature, then you’re in luck: both the WRX and WRX STI have earned the title of TOP SAFETY PICK from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS).
“Safety is one of our brand tenets and so we are extremely proud to have earned a TSP rating for our performance models” said Thomas J. Doll, president and chief operating officer, Subaru of America, Inc. “We are committed to providing engaging driving together with safety and this award is testament to that commitment.”
The redesigned 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI were both tested by the IIHS for the first time, and the TOP SAFETY PICK rating brings the total of Subaru vehicles branded with the TSP or TSP+ distinction to six.

According to the IIHS, the 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI held up well in small front overlap testing and maintained the driver’s space while minimizing potential injury risk. The WRX is said to have earned a “good” rating in the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests.
So there you have it. If you were balking for whatever reason on following through with the purchase of the new WRX or WRX STI, you can stop hemming and hawing so dang much and just get on with making the donuts already.
So many donuts.
