What’s New for the 2018 Ford Fusion?

The 2018 Ford Fusion carries over its features from the 2017 model. Last year, the Fusion saw several changes including two new trims and an all-new infotainment system.

Exterior

You can tell the Ford Fusion apart from any other brand by its chrome grille. Designed with halogen headlamps and LED tail lamps, the Ford Fusion makes a dominating entrance. It also comes with available convenience features across its trims, including a Reverse Sensing System, security approach lamps, and heated side mirrors with memory settings.

The 2018 Ford Fusion is available in 10 exterior colors: White Platinum, Lightning Blue, Oxford White, Burgundy Velvet, Magnetic, Ingot Silver, Ruby Red, White Gold, Shadow Black, and Blue Metallic.

Performance

You have a couple different powertrain options on the 2018 Ford Fusion. The base trim comes with a 2.5-liter Duratec four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission, giving off 175 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. On the SE, you can opt for a 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with Auto Start-Stop and 181 horsepower or a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder for 240 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. The Fusion Sport comes with the strongest engine: a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 that gives off 325 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.

All Hybrid and Energi trims come with a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle inline four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, giving off 141 horsepower and 129 lb-ft of torque.

Efficiency

The 2018 Fusion’s standard four-cylinder engine earns an estimated 21 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. If you’re really looking for an efficient model, you’ll probably want to opt for one of the Hybrid or Energi trims. The hybrid models earn an estimated 43 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway, while the Energi trims earn an outstanding 104 MPGe in the city.

Interior

You can customize the Ford Fusion’s interior to your personal needs. If you’re more of an audio fanatic, consider opting for the Titanium; it comes with a 12-speaker Sony audio system, equipped with HD Radio technology.
