The Santa Fe XL nameplate is new for the 2019 model year, but the actual vehicle is a familiar one. The 2018 Santa Fe has been renamed the 2019 Santa Fe XL, and the 2018 Santa Fe Sport has been renamed the 2019 Santa Fe. The 2019 Santa Fe XL largely carries over from the previous model year, but it does feature an updated AVN 5.0 infotainment system that’s available with an 8-inch touch screen, navigation, HD Radio Traffic, and a faster processor.


Performance and Capabilities

The 2019 Santa Fe XL carries a 3.3-liter V6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic on-demand gear shifting. This powertrain delivers 290 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque. It’s also capable of towing up to 5,000 pounds. Fuel economy varies between the SUV’s two trims: 21 combined mpg (FWD) or 20 combined mpg (AWD) for the SE, and 20 combined mpg (FWD) or 19 combined mpg (AWD) for the Limited Ultimate.
