Here’s How the GMC Lineup Will Change for 2020
GMC’s lineup isn’t undergoing any dramatic changes for the 2020 model year, but most of the brand’s vehicles are undergoing at least a few changes (except for the Yukon, which will be all-new for 2021). These are the most significant 2020 upgrades in store for the trucks and SUVs in GMC’s portfolio.
2020 GMC Terrain
In the model’s biggest change for 2020, all trims of the Terrain compact SUV include the standard GMC Pro Safety Package, which offers forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, a following distance indicator, lane keep assistance with lane departure warning, and IntelliBeam headlamps.
Terrain Denali models now feature standard ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, Adaptive Cruise Control – Camera, and a new suspension that’s unique to the trim level.
2020 GMC Acadia
The Acadia gets a host of changes for 2020. The midsize SUV has a sharply redesigned exterior look with a new grille, facias, and standard LED lighting. Each trim receives standard rear cross traffic alert, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, and rear park assist. Also standard: a new nine-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Precision Shift.
In other changes, the Acadia is the latest GMC vehicle to receive an AT4 variant. The Acadia AT4 offers a new 2.0-liter turbo engine, a more aggressive style and darker exterior details.
2020 GMC Canyon
The Canyon pickup only gets a few changes for 2020. These include standard Tire Fill Alert technology, an available remote locking tailgate, and the new Carbon Black Metallic exterior paint color.
2020 GMC Sierra 1500
The all-new Sierra 1500 came out for 2019, so the 2020 version mostly includes refinements and upgraded features. For the new model year, the Sierra 1500 offers a new 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine and more models equipped with carbon fiber beds and 10-speed automatic transmissions. The Sierra also gets a more advanced ProGrade Trailering System with transparent trailer view.
2020 GMC Sierra HD
The Sierra HD (2500HD and 3500HD models) is all-new for 2020. Its advancements include enhanced ProGrade Trailering, smart trailer integration, a Rear Camera Mirror, the MultiPro tailgate, a 15-inch head-up display, and an off-road AT4 variant. The Sierra HD also features an available 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel connected to an all-new Allison 10-speed automatic transmission.
