2020 Toyota Supra Catches Air in New Ad
Toyota has released a new 30-second spot for the 2020 GR Supra, its new sports car set to launch in just three short days on July 20, 2019.
The spot, titled “Track Day,” is part of the “This Is Our Sport” ad campaign for the new performance car, and coincides with the 50th anniversary of NASA launching Apollo 11 to the moon. Is that really a coincidence? Considering the Supra gets some air in the ad, it might not be.
“Track Day” is the longest of the new Supra spots, and like previous ads for the car, it doesn’t reveal much as far as features go. There’s no overly philosophical voiceover (let’s be glad for that) and for the most part, all of the shots are of the exterior.

Instead, the spots all strive to capture the performance and driving thrill the GR Supra offers using sound and speed, and based on the positive responses you can read in the comments, Toyota is clearly in touch with its target market here.
“Get to know Toyota’s new version of a legend. Its aggressive styling and near perfect 50/50 balance will almost certainly redline your joy-meter,” the automaker says.
The new Supra was co-developed with the new BMW Z4, though despite sharing an engine, the two cars are not equal in performance (spoiler alert: the Supra is the quicker of the two). It will be offered at three trim levels, including a special Launch Edition model, which you can already customize on the configurator that went live yesterday.
